This week it was confirmed that Alexandra Trusova / Александра Трусова withdrew from the Russian Grand Prix final due to a back injury. Instagram account, @teamavtrusova, very kindly shared images confirming the news and confirmed that renowned figure skating coach, Tatiana Tarasova, had been in touch with Sasha’s coach, Svetlana Sokolovskaya, to see if Trusova would be fit to compete.
Unfortunately, Tarasova was told that Trusova and her trainers had already informed the competition organisers that she would not be participating.
As reported by sports.ru and @teamavtrusova, Tarasova displayed a very measured response to the unfortunate news by expressing her sadness that Sasha would not be competing but noting that it will still be a great competition filled with fantastic competitors.
Some famous names are expected to line out for the competition include Sofia Akatyeva, Kamila Valieva, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva and others.
