There’s lots happening for Japanese figure skater Mone Chiba / 千葉 百音. The Four Continents 2023 bronze medallist was recently awarded the top level of funding by the Japan Skating Federation (JSF).
She also announced that she will be leaving Sendai and making a coaching switch to the Konishita Skating Academy in Kyoto where she will prepare for the 2026 Olympics. Konishita Academy have confirmed the news via Twitter and have also updated their website to list Mone Chiba as one of their skaters.
Renowned figure skating coach, Mie Hamada, is also based at Konishita, so it will be interesting to see if Mone will skate under Hamada’s direction.
Mone, who recently celebrated her 18th birthday, has also travelled to Los Angeles for choreography. Not many other details are currently available about her visit to LA but we’ll post more details as we get them!
It’s amazing to learn about all the positive moves Mone is making, and we can’t wait to see how it works out for her. We wish Mone lots of luck at her new base in Kyoto!
