Stage 2 • Harbin, China (JGP Qualifier)
We’re still in the early stages of the new skating season but Yuxuan Liu continued her gold winning streak by winning gold at the Advanced Novice (Girls) figure skating competition in Harbin for Stage 2 of the Interclub League of China.

In other interesting news from Harbin, we’re seeing more Chinese skaters follow the ambitious Kao Miura approach by taking part in two competition divisions in a single week. That’s a lot of work! During this Stage 2 of the Chinese Interclub League Ruiyang Zhang – 张瑞阳 and Yihe Sun – 孙翊赫 competed at both the Junior and Senior levels in the Women’s and Men’s events. And they did it with style, with both successfully achieving podiums at each level. Their amazing results, listed below, make them skaters to watch! And a little fun fact, Yihe Sun is coached by the legendary Han Yan 😎.

This second stage of the Interclub League served as a qualifier for the Junior Grand Prix, and it didn’t disappoint.
Shiqi Gao (高诗棋) won gold in the Women’s event with an impressive 201.08, breaking the 200-point barrier just two stages in!
The top two finishers Shiqi Gao and Yihan Wang (王一涵) have since been assigned to the JGP Turkey and JGP Italy respectively.
We’re patiently waiting for the rest of the assignments to be announced.
Junior Men Results:
One to watch: Jiayou Liu is (刘珈佑) a star of the future! At only 9 years old he amazed everyone by landing these huge triple axles in both practice and competition.
He won bronze at Stage 1.

With choreography from by Aljona Savchenko (SP) & Benoit Richaud (FS), Jiaxuan Zhang / Yihang Huang (张嘉轩/黄一航) won gold at their first event of the season. It was great to see them on the top step of the podium! While it wasn’t perfect, and some elements still need some work, it’s still early days and this pair look very strong for their first senior season. We’ll keep you posted on developments as this exciting team progress through the season!
