World Figure Skating Championships 2023

The World Figure Skating Championships 2023 are taking place in Saitama さいたま市, Japan this week from Wednesday 22nd March to Sunday 26th March. The Saitama Super Arena will play host to figure skaters from around the world vying for the coveted gold while Shoma Uno (JPN) and Kaori Sakamoto (JPN) will be hoping to retain their World titles. Expect Ilia Malinin of the USA to make a big impression at this competition, the Quad God’s technical skills are out of this world while is performance elements have continued to consistently improve.

With so many top coaches in attendance, including Stéphane Lambiel (SUI) and Sonoko Nakano (JPN), it was also great to see Eteri Tutberidze and her team of Daniil Gleikhengauz and Sergei Dudakov arrive to support Daniel Grassl (ITA), Morisi Kvitelashvili (GEO) and Nika Egadze (GEO).

University Games winners Sota Yamamoto (JPN) and Mai Mihara (JPN) are also expected to capitalise on their recent runs of good form. Other names to look out for are Rinka Watanabe (JPN), Riku Miura & Ryuichi Kihara (Pairs), Kimmy Repond (SUI), Loena Hendrickx (BEL) and Haein Lee (KOR).
