Sota Yamamoto / 山本 草太 recently posted a video to his Instagram showing him practicing a quad flip. The 23 year old Japanese figure skater already has a strong quad salchow and a quad toe in his jump repertoire. As one of the most improved international skaters this past season, it’s great to see Sota pushing ahead with more improvements! In the 2022/2023 season he won gold at the University Games at Lake Placid, USA, and placed 2nd in the French and Japanese Grand Prix as well as the Grand Prix Final.
Update 20th May 2023: Here’s our short video of Sota Yamamoto also landing a quad lutz.
Thanks to @SkateJapanNews on Twitter for saving the original practice video of the 4F:
Sota Yamamoto’s strong performances this season have also helped him secure additional funding from the Japanese Skating Federation as he was listed on the Strengthened Skaters List for Team Japan. He’s definitely one to watch ahead of the 2023/2024 season!
