While there weren’t many attempts at Ultra C elements attempted at Junior Worlds, we did see some skaters try to incorporate them into their programs. The most impressive attempt was Mao Shimada’s 4T effort. Even though she received a q for it she almost landed the quad and was only deducted -0.54 points.
Triple axels were the more popular Ultra C elements on display with Ami Nakai, Yujae Kim and Inga Gurgenidze joining Mao Shimada in adding this to their programs. For Yujae Kim, this was her first time landing a triple axel in international competition, although she has successfully landed it previously at domestic competitions. Only Inga Gurgenidze tried the triple axel in combination.
