Japanese figure skater, Yuma Kagiyama / 鍵山優真, has recently been in Varese, Italy for a training camp Karolina Kostner and Lori Nichol. They have been helping Yuma with some creative approaches towards improving his on-ice expression and refinement of program choreography. He posted about this fun experience on his Instagram account. We’ve translated it from the original Japanese here:
It is very nice to skate in the morning sun. This is a fun way to practice without getting bored because there are many figures to draw 👍. I will try my best to pursue figure skating more and grow.
Kostner incorporates some interesting techniques in her teaching methods and uses the drawing of interesting figures on the ice, like the sun, to help refine the edge work of skaters. So far, Yuma seems to be really enjoying this kind of practice!
The Varese Ice Sports Societyposted a lovely photo of Yuma with Karolina Kostner and the group in Italy. It’s lovely to see so many happy skaters in the photo!
