Figure Skating News: According to TASS, a spokesperson for CAS (The Court of Arbitration for Sport), recently said that they have merged the 3 appeals regarding the Kamila Valieva case into one proceeding. The appeals had been lodged by WADA, RUSADA and the ISU.
“All three appeals will be heard simultaneously,” a spokesman for the sports arbitration court quoted TASS as saying.

DAC (Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee) RUSADA had previously found that the Valieva had committed an individual anti-doping rule infringement, but also that there was no fault or negligence on her part. The positive test was noted in December 2021 but no positive tests were recorded before or since. RUSADA removed her December Russian Championships gold medal, but no further action was taken.
In February 2023, CAS told Reuters:
“A RUSADA investigation released in January acknowledged that Valieva did fail a drug test but ruled that the teenager was not guilty of any doping infraction.
“RUSADA seeks a ruling from CAS setting aside the challenged decision and finding the athlete to have committed an anti-doping rule violation under the RUSADA anti-doping rules, and sanctioned with ‘the appropriate consequences’ …,” CAS said in a statement.
The CAS press office told TASS that they had not yet decided on a date for the figure skater’s case to be heard.
